so busy

We've been crazy busy the past few months. Legoland, camping, Disneyland, 1st birthday party... you name it, we've done it. I posted new photos on our site, and will hopefully have more to add this weekend.

Take me out to the ballgame

Sunday evening was Harper's first trip to Petco Park, to watch the Padres get beat by the Phillies... Poor Pads...













You can see how enthralled Harper was by the ballgame.

Flag Day

As many of you may know, I love my libertarian neighbors. (I call them the libertarians for effect, but really I think they're neo-cons). They have an array of flags that they display at all patriotic, and mildly patriotic, holidays. According to Wikipedia, Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the United States flag, which happened on June 14, 1777. Flag Day was really meant only to honor the American flag, but as you can see, my neighbors use the day to honor all flags. They have a total of 11 flags flying, 3 of which are the American flag. The others include a Marine Corps flag, POW-MIA flag, and others I can't identify. If you can identify any others, please post them in a comment.

Other fun facts about my neighbors: The Ford truck has a bumper sticker that says "Happiness is a Northbound Yankee;" he has been known to participate in Civil War reenactments, guns and cannons included; their screened-in "porch" (formerly carport) is for the big screen TV.

Yes, I am obsessed with the weather

Yesterday morning a freak winter storm blew in to San Diego, and after having been told that we would only get a little drizzle, it poured all day long. It was 58 when I got to work at 8:30am, but by the time I left at 4:00pm, it was 44!! As a result, we got snow in the mountains, and many country dwellers had trouble getting home due to road closures.

While I can appreciate that to those who live in climates that actually have weather, this is par for the course, but in San Diego, it is quite a sight to see snow on my way to work, and from my office window. So bear with me while I express my awe with mother nature. AAAWWW...


Driving on Interstate 15 (yes, I took the picture while driving), this shot looks north east towards Palomar Mountain. Palomar Mountain got 10-11 inches of snow from the storm.





This is the beautiful view from my office window. Gotta love working for the gov'ment.
